email naps. yes. very helpful. i once discovered some sort of software someplace (oh god -- it's in my lost blog posts) that you can install and it is basically like a padlock for everything on your computer except for your word processor. you can set it to not let you open any other windows for a set period of time so that you are forced to work.

of course, i just found non-computer ways to procrastinate instead.

so i wouldn't really recommend it. i think i used it twice before i uninstalled it.

besides which, when you're doing research online, it's not all that helpful.

hmm. just thought i'd share. although now i guess i see that my comment is pretty useless. : )

Nicely put.

My contribution...keep post-it-notes nearby where you work and if you have a fleeting "oh my gosh I need to do abc" you can write it down and then go back to what you're doing. Helps to keep one by your bed too. :)

Great advice :)

I always try to look at my plate and figure out, "what is most important?". That's the meat. The other things, the veggies, are important, but they are a side dish. I know eventually i will get to them, but they are smaller and slightly less important than the main dish.

Being able to distinguish what truly is important and necessary to finish first has always helped me when handling multiple things.

I guess the problem comes when you have two pieces of meat on your plate...which one do you eat first? Your 10 steps outlined above surely will help decide, because ultimately, you cant eat them at the same time.
