A Four Day Celebration Giveaway Event

Recently, I have been reflecting quite a bit about this past year. I tend to get into this type of reflection mode each year around my birthday. On Sunday (March 1st), I will be turning the big 24! As some of you may know, this past year has been probably one of the toughest thus far. Yet, I have gained so much insight into life through the struggles. And so for the next four days, I will have different events on my blog to celebrate “a beautiful ripple effect.”

I am so thankful for the wonderful individuals who have helped me become a part of this meaningful blog community. It is an incredible gift.

Each day, I will giveaway four items. I will show three of the four items on the blog, and the fourth item will be a surprise! I have some other fun little surprises as well — so we will enter March full of positive, fun energy! On Sunday, March 1st, I will be sharing an exciting announcement. So without further ado, lets start the celebration!

Wednesday February 25th (Day One)

What has recently inspired you? Just leave a comment with a response to that question by Thursday February 26th at 11:30 pm EST. I will contact the recipient shortly afterwards and post him/her on the blog as well (and will share the fourth item). So that’s it! Please think of your response/comment as a mini-birthday gift to me. I often feel guilty entering giveaways (silly- I know!), but I look forward to reading the comments and sharing this celebration with you!! I will use a very advanced research technique to determine the recipient (i.e., I will pull a number out of a hat).

Oh yes, I almost forgot… the giveaways! Please see below!! And look here tomorrow for more fun and little treasures!!

My inspiration is and has always been my sister. I live in Florida and she lives in Finland. Recently a friend mentioned she has no one to talk to about sensitive subjects and I was reminded how lucky I am. I had breast cancer last year and my son died of a srug overdose. My sister spent hours on the phone with me as well as visiting me.

  3. Why do we share a freakin’ brain? I just used that Follow Your Bliss image last Tuesday (http://is.gd/kYWr)! Freeeeeaky! Not to mention it was one of my 3 favorite quotes when you interviewed me (http://is.gd/kQQB). If I wasn’t mumblemumble years older than you I would think we were separated at birth.

OK, the most recent thing that has inspired me is “Taking Flight” by Kelly Rae Roberts. I finished reading it last night and immediately started journaling/facing some deep truths that I was avoiding. During the first reading session (I started & finished it over the course of 2 baths!) I had to put it down in order to start writing a book. A book! Geez Louise, that’s freakin’ inspiring.

Happy early birthday, by the way!

  4. Ohmygosh, I SO want to go to all the art conferences and get messy. And then I remember that I’m a performer and not a freakin’ artist! I can only draw stick figures. And objects that look like stick figures.

I will so be stalking your blog to see the fourth item. If it’s “Taking Flight” I might crap my pants.

Lately I’ve been mostly inspired by library books. I pick a random number and go get something from that part of the nonfiction section – some of them are unreadable (for example, auto repair manuals), but I’ve found some really interesting things that I might never have looked at otherwise.

My recent inspiration is one of the most wonderful human beings I have come into contact with, Suzanne Lindley. Like you Carolyn, she was one of the 10 finalists for the LiveStrong Give 100% contest (http://www.livestrong.com/give100/). I had the pleasure of meeting her this summer at the Lance Armstrong Foundation Cancer Summit in Columbus, Ohio and my life hasn’t been the same since. Suzanne has lived with metastatic colon cancer for the past 10 years. She is a prime example of turning lemons into lemonade. She regularly speaks at conferences around the nation, testifies before Congress, writes appeals for cancer patients denied treatment AND individually calls over 200+ patients a week around the world to check on them. If this wasn’t enough she creates her own ripple effect through the e-mails she writes. I have never met someone who is able to describe their experiences and reflections with such clarity and frankness. The lessons one can learn from Suzanne are endless if you or a loved one are facing cancer or not. If anyone is interested in receiving her on average biweekly gems of inspiration you can e-mail her and ask to be put on her mailing list at rslindley@aol.com.

You are an incredible individual. We so often weigh the hardships within our lives so heavily upon our ourselves that there is little room for light and gratitude to make its way in. Your strength is truly inspiring.

Thank you for reminding me how lucky I am as well to have an incredible sister.

What is even scarier, Michelle, is the fourth item in this giveaway. I’ll put it up later today, but be prepared to be spooked!
I can’t believe the “Follow your Bliss” image! I love that image as well and remembered I saw it on a blog recently and it must have been yours!!! It is so powerful.
After I read Taking Flight, I started to draw. I can’t draw!! — Really can’t draw ANYTHING! I was just so inspired by her work.
Okay off to do my biggest research presentation yet — yikes :(.
