How to Create a Positivity Treasury

In last Monday’s post, 9 Methods to Use When Returning to Normal, I mentioned one method that could be used to motivate yourself — a personal treasury.

After I wrote the post, I thought to myself, “now what?” I didn’t know the answer. “A personal treasury” filled with positive stuff — sounds perfect, but then why is it rarely utilized?

Two big reasons:
1) It’s a broad concept. We can mentally attack it from different angles. When you think, positivity treasury, your thoughts can go anywhere — particularly, what a waste of time — I know what makes me happy.

2) Why recreate something that’s been done countless times? There are entire blogs focused on positivity, books focused on the topic, tv shows. If “Oprah” says this list will make me happy, then it will make me happy — no questions asked.

If you either never experience a moment of emotional imbalance or have created a perfect system to keep your emotions in balance, then this post isn’t for you. Hmmm… not sure you’re human if you fell into that group.

“Now What?”

Let’s get back to the basics. There are millions of resources online and offline. So what’s the problem? One missing ingredient: how.

How do we filter through these resources and decide which are valuable to us and further — when are they valuable?

How can we create a personal treasury of positivity that can be utilized at any time — much like a custom first-aid kit? Always ready and available.

I will dedicate a new section of the blog to this project and would love to hear your feedback as we move forward together.

Next step: I will present general ideas and a breakdown of the project. That will be followed by a guided worksheet — fun and creative! And then a fun little booklet for you to download and use to document your own personal positivity treasury.

Positivity Treasury — What are your thoughts?

This sounds so cute. I think that you’ll need to tap into both the right and left brains for this. For example I love sorting through different photographers and their work (thanks to my photo class), but I’m not sure I could do that for too long without wanting to sit down and read or do something more analytical. Then again, maybe that’s just me…

  4. Hi! I am completely connecting with your blog and was really excited when i read this post. I am very interested in creating my own Positivity Treasury. I love that you offer a lot of “hows” to living an authentic life. Thank you!
