Instruction Destruction
It all began with Start Here.
Last week was more difficult than most for me. I thought hard week > wreckage. Well, not the case! It seems that I LOVE to follow instructions and fit inside a neat little box when things start to go haywire. It was definitely a challenge to keep pushing forward with my wreckage… but I DID! I didn’t put the book away. I didn’t stop trying. Even though it was difficult, I kept going as hard as it was.
Writing is definitely a release for me — not drawing (wish it were!). So I did lots of writing in my journal and even began to burn a page until the smoke alarm looked as if it wanted to go off and make A LOT of people upset with me! So I had to hold it outside the window for a bit :). If any Bostonians saw someone hanging a book outside a window this morning — that would be me!
On to week 3! Happy Wrecking!

Yay you for being so brave, for finding your way through the journal with colour and fire and writing. May it be a good companion to you wherever you are on the journey :)

I love all of your writing! I’m so focused on “trying” to be an “artist” that I completely didn’t think about the writing! I’ll definitely bring that into my wrecking, too.
Wasn’t burning the page fun?
You are always such an inspiration to me Carolyn! Keep on wreckin… :)
I was also VERY intimidated by other’s “wrecking.” Good for you for just saying to yourself “Yep – that’s what I feel but I’m going to keep on anyway!” Happy Wrecking!!
I really want to try this journal! I’m just afraid I will be messy, neatly, which will defeat the purpose. :)
I love your website. It is beautiful.

Oh I wish I were an artist! I think I scared myself by looking at the “customer examples” on Amazon! There are some really amazing wreckers out there! But I loved writing in it and just putting my random thoughts about the different words and activities. I also poked holes but want to poke more so haven’t shared that one yet! I don’t own crayons or paint or anything like that so that’s on my list to get so I can do full on wrecking!
Ben helped me burn the page — I was scared that I was going to burn down the entire building! I kept thinking isn’t this a huge liability for the publisher! My burnt page is just a big hole in the middle b/c I didn’t want the book to explode so I may need to do a bit more burning to feel/see the full effect. Maybe do it outside :).

Thank you Jamie :). I do love how we have such a great chunk of time to go at our own pace. It doesn’t feel rushed – just wonderful. Your weekly videos are the best!

Those examples are so scary! They were super intimidating to me, so I think I just looked at a few. I’m trying to keep Jamie’s thought in my head: “Perfection is exactly where you are right now.” It helps to take the pressure off & know that me, now, is good enough. So hippie dippy but so true!

Thank you, Toni! The journal will definitely be messy! I bought a little finger paint set today :). I’m scared to see the damage!! I’ll be sure to post pictures!!
