The Journey

I can see the finish line — something I’ve been dreaming of reaching, the day that I would cross the finish line and be able to look back and see how far I have truly traveled, how strong I’ve been against all odds. Yet, I’m fueled with resistance and fear and uncertainty and those oh so loud voices, whispering not so gently in my ear: you are not good enough. you will not make it to the finish line. Oh, the journey of a warrior — it never gets boring, but it sure does get exhausting. I’m exhausted, but I promised myself that I am going to make it to the finish line — even if I cross the line and come in last place, crawling my way across. I’m going to get there.

I wasn’t going to share, but I would love any positive thoughts to help me get to this finish line (one of many finish lines, but a very important one for me at this point in my journey).

This is so exciting, Carolyn. You should be so proud of yourself: you have *dates*! I know a lot of people who, unfortunately, listened to those voices and never made it to this step (I may or may not be talking about myself *shifty eyes*).

I’m sending you all of my positive thoughts for the hand in on Friday, and again on Tuesday. Knock ‘em off their feet!

  2. Best of luck to you! I’m glad that you shared your journey here and allowed yourself to be open to support and feedback. That openness, in my opinion, eases some of the burden that these hurdles can present. I’ve been there and I’m rooting for you!

  3. Joining the fan club NOW! Love it, Carolyn. Brilliant progress. I’m marking my calendar and will be cheering from afar. Rock it!

You deserve the best and will be in my thoughts those days. There is no way you will not succeed, because you already have.

Seriously, ladies, you have made my day — THANK YOU for your support. My heart is beaming — I am so grateful :).

  6. Carolyn,

Having the dates (and all the work that has gone into having the dates), is almost a bigger hurdle than the actual presentations. Now, that’s not to say that you may not expect to want to puke before your defense (I certainly did), but you’re so darn close! Sending all kinds of good thoughts.

Go Carolyn! Know that we’re all sending you positive thoughts, energies, and everything good. You know your stuff – you are incredibly well prepared and articulate with a great presence – a winning combo. You’ve already succeeded (also, how many other people in the room published a phenomenal book and started their own thriving non-profit, ever in their lives, much less when they were in their twenties/teens respectively?) – keep visualizing your success (and breathe)! :)

Yes, its a constant journey, but when you achieve something its just a point in your life then there you go again through life’s journey. Their is no dream so easy to achieve but the success of reaching it is so sweet. Life’s journey is not a bed of roses, if we want to achieve our goal, we have to strive hard for it.
