Color Me Happy: Bold Black
I am feeling a lot better (finally!) and am back in action with my favorite type of post, a color me happy inspiration board! I began this color board almost a month ago and added the final touches today. Since 90% of my wardrobe is black, I couldn’t get excited by a color I already see so much on a day to day basis. And I thought this would be my favorite color board of all (silly me!). Insight gained: I need to add more color to my overall wardrobe. This is going to be a tough assignment, but one that I’m willing to tackle. It’s interesting to find patterns in your wardrobe. Do you notice that you lean towards one color palette? Or are there particular colors you avoid wearing? For example, I noticed that I adore wearing yellow but own practically no everyday pieces in this color (time to change this pattern).

How does black make you feel? What color is inspiring you today?

Yes, 90% of my wardrobe is black too! My excuse is that I have trouble matching colours. Therefore, I know just about any of my tops will go with my black skirt and I can wear my black coat with almost all of my outfits.
I see it more as a labour-saving feature of my wardrobe.
But I also wish I had more yellow clothes.

So happy to know I’m not alone with my almost all black wardrobe!
I use to wear a lot of black, but as I approached 40 I realized it was too harsh a color for me to wear, particularly near my face. Now my neutral go to colors are dark brown and charcoal grey. I like cool clear colors rather than muted shades. I’ve gotten more adventurous with color, trying to wear only colors that really make me happy. If you’re going to have to look at it all day long, you might as well love what you’re seeing.
