The Declaration of You

January 11th, 2011 | 7 Comments »

As you may well know by now, I am an online workshop junkie. I’ve been a fan of e-workshops for the past few years. Today, there are so many exciting offerings that it’s hard to choose what to take. That’s why I’ve decided to share the latest course I participated in with you! It ranks at the tippy top of all the wonderful classes available and by far is one of the most unique.

In October, I was part of the first ever Declaration of You (DOY) e-course.

The DOY is the brainchild of Michelle Ward and Jessica Swift.

The Unique Collaboration: Michelle and Jess have HUGE personalities and are both super talented — but in very different ways. Michelle is a life-coach extraordinaire for creative stars and Jess is a true creative design/illustration/inspiration genius.

Michelle and Jess worked tirelessly to marry their talents in an unbelievably seamless manner. Running the workshop together, they magnified the talents of one-another rather than trying to separate what they are both naturally talented at. I can’t imagine the months and endless hours this preparation took, but they did it in a way that will serve as a tremendous model for other individuals who want to collaborate in a truly united manner.

The Format: The information is presented in unique formats so you can decide to mix and match the options to create the perfect learning experience just for you (audio, visual, illustration, worksheets, videos, exercises, and much more). It’s like a personal cocktail, but so much better :).

FUN! FUN! FUN! Workshops can be all info with very little play. However, this workshop provided incredible content delivered in fun and creative ways (ex. host Pierre Francois Frederic and his blue pony!).

The Declaration: The DOY guides each participant to look at the stuff that holds each of us back. This is the stuff we rarely acknowledge — even to ourselves.  It teaches you to triumph over these blockades with powerful and fun techniques. You practice these techniques through a plethora of creative exercises. Then, you look at each experience and pull together your findings in your own personal declaration – one you can keep handy at all times (think of it like your personal owner’s manual!).

The Take-Home Message: Simply stated, it’s a course that guides you through the process of declaring to yourself what makes you uniquely and beautifully YOU. Then, you learn to own it and shout it from the rooftops (or maybe your own blue pony!). But most importantly, it teaches you to turn the process of self-discovery into a fun and exciting exploration that feels truly liberating.

The Declaration of You is brilliant. I can’t think of a component that I dislike which is why I’ve decided to share this personal review (my very first e-course review) with you lovely friends and even signed up as an affiliate for both the course and the delicious e-book! The next e-course will be offered in February so be sure to check it out if you want to create your own declaration or if you can’t wait until then grab the e-book and get started whenever you desire!

What makes you uniquely and beautifully YOU? Declare it in the comments below (blue ponies are welcome)!

Now Available: More Ease for Your Desktop

August 7th, 2010 | 10 Comments »

Who couldn’t use a bit more ease while at work?

It feels so good to let ourselves melt into the flow and allow our work to come naturally, unencumbered, and with grace. What better time to invite some ease into our lives than the last weeks of summer?

I recently asked some inspiring artists what ease looks like for them. The latest edition of the free desktop wallpapers series is a compilation of their work. Be sure to stop by and download some summertime ease for your desktop!

The gorgeous pieces include:

Meet Stephanie: “I am an artist & designer living and working in Malvern, Pennsylvania. My personal aesthetic is quite varied and changes with my mood. It’s a little bit bohemian, always colorful, and, when it comes to my children’s work, definitely VERY whimsical. No matter what style i’m feeling on a given day, there does seem to be a constant of intricacy & detail.”

Meet Jess: “I’m interested in color. And the way images speak and capture truths and feelings that words simply can’t. I believe we are visual creatures, and we crave worlds filled with sights and images that make us feel joyful. I believe we are meant to do what we love, to feel joy. I’m blessed to be a full-time artist and graphic/surface pattern designer; I’m truly living a life that I love.”

Meet Allie: “A girl with a plan. Or, perhaps more accurately, a girl who’s always planning. Constantly working to make others’ lives simpler and my own as complicated as possible. Aspiring to be a domestic goddess, letterpress shop owner, sommelier, voiceover actress, novelist, and Anthropologie window display designer. And all in this lifetime.”

Thank you so much to all of the talented artists who shared their beautiful visions of ease!
